Episode 01

I'm entering this house focused on playing a solid under-the-radar game. All of the other players are completely unfamiliar to me, so it's obviously important to establish bonds with the rest of the cast in the immediate future. My technique is going to be to make myself available but let the other players initiate conversation with me rather than initiate conversation with them. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard early, and this will give me an indication of who is putting the most effort into the game. Obviously as the game progresses, I'll initiate conversation, but I like letting people approach me first early on.

I'm excited to see how the rest of the cast is and what's up with those 5 extra players and the twist that involves them. I did speak briefly with Brian, and he thinks the twist will be that five veterans are coming back. I think that's the obvious theory, so we'll see whether or not he's correct.

I predict that Dan, Dino, Jen, Ragan, and Sophie will be returning tonight in the twist. This is my first of many hopefully accurate predictions that will allow me to make it to the end and win this game.

I'm trying to act like a pretty laid-back, semi-intelligent player who is active but not super devoted. I need to talk to some more people though. Here are my first impressions on who I've talked to.

To my knowledge, the only person who I knew was signing up for this game was James. We don't have much of a pre-existing relationship, however. What I noticed in my conversation with James was how focused he was. He's here for the win, and he's not not even trying to hide it. He said he's talked to everyone except Kevin and Lydia. I feel like James is a person who I can and will align with early in this. He respects a strong game and won't hold back in the challenges, respects individuals who make risky strategic moves, and has watched the episodes. He's the biggest threat to win right now, in my opinion. He's talked to Brian a lot as well, so the two of them may align.

Brian is another player who is deadset on winning this. He's IMed me twice, and both times, he's gone right into strategy. Considering I still haven't even talked to most of the cast, the fact that he's contacted me on two separate occassions shows his devotion. He'll be a factor, and he's again not even trying to hold how into this he is when he starts talking to me about past seasons and how he's watched the episodes.

April and Aisleyne are both pretty low-key. They did initiate short conversations with me, but they weren't game-game-game like Brian and James. April and I specifically agreed to split the episodes up amongst ourselves to watch the past players. Aisleyne and I didn't really agree to anything as far as a deal goes, but I still like her and could see us working together later.

Sarah types well, but I didn't find her that interesting. After she answered, "yeah," to a few of my messages and didn't say anything else, I basically just killed the conversation because I was bored. I guess it was nice getting to know her, and hopefully our conversation goes better when we have something to actually talk about.

I talked to Ragan and found him to be one of the most interesting players yet. We talked about non-game stuff a little, then got into the past seasons of the series, and then he told me about Sophie and how dangerous she was. I really like him; if anything, I feel like he's a mentor that I can have for this game. Until I decide it's time for him to leave, of course.

About this challenge, I'm actually tempted to not do it and risk being in bottom five because I don't expect them to actually be evicted. I wouldn't look like a threat! However, I'll probably put in a few hours later tonight or tomorrow just in case the penalty is significant, and I don't want to risk being so far under the radar that people think I'm inactive. Which actually could happen if I can't free up my schedule a little more.

Wtf is Ragan talking about? Are the newbies against him, or are the veterans against him? Either he's playing me, he's overly paranoid as a player, or he's just completely nuts in general. I'll support him and everything, but I already feel uncomfortable trying to work with him and rely on him because he seems way too emotional and unpredictable.

Um, lol, my social game hasn't been so great so far which I'm clearly learning from the mini. I haven't talked enough to people to make solid connections. So since Aisleyne won HoH, I'm like running to her and telling her EVERYTHING that Ragan told me about her yesterday just to see if this gains me a place in her favor. Am I totally floating right now? Yes, for sure. But if I'm first nominated, I will likely go home. So I need to prevent myself from going on the block so I actually have a chance to make connections and stay in the game further.

When I found out who Michelle was, I was immediately happy. The two of us had previously played a game together that was abandoned by the host. I feel like I can trust Michelle initially in this game more than I can anyone else. She's definitely going to be one of my core alliances because we get along really well. So we'll resurrect the Nifty Alliance for this game. April, and I have also been talking more, and I'd say that she is the person who I trust the second most behind Michelle. She's nice and a great conversationalist, plus she doesn't seem that devious to me. She seems real and although we don't have an official alliance, I still consider her a main ally. My third closest ally in the game is probably James even though he's obviously making more of an effort than anyone else to be social and probably close to everyone.

Just talking to Sophie, you can tell how intelligent she is. Her bluntness is a pleasant change from the fakeness and overexaggerated enthusiasm that a lot of players show. I like her, even though we don't have any deals and haven't gone into strategy. I feel like both of us are open-minded enough as players that we may find the opportunity to work together mutually beneficial later in the game. It's always good to keep your options open. And even though she's a "veteran" and returning player, I'm not concerned.

My opinion on Ragan has changed significantly since I met him. He's really nice, but it's almost disturbing how he'll sign on, talk to me for about five minutes saying how much he likes me, and then sign off. He's completely paranoid, and I'd be surprised if people can tolerate him long enough to bring him to the end of the game. My opinion on Sarah has also changed. I thought she was boring at first, but all of a sudden, she has a ton of personality flowing through her. We've talked a little more, but our conversations still haven't been great.

Emma's from Mexico and is new to ORGs. Our conversations seem to be lacking, and I think she's that way with everyone essentially. I don't really see any chance that she'll end up making it to the end of the game. I've talked to everyone else, but no one else made enough of an impression on me to comment on them.

So, my initial strategy was to not initiate any PMs and see who came to me in order to determine who the most devoted players in this game were. I even considered throwing the Right to Stay competition in order to not be seen as a threat, but I chose not to take that risk because I didn't want to ultimately leave the game as a result of my own stupidity. I put in a few solid hours, and it was enough. I had no idea what would happen to the five people eliminated, but I was hoping that they'd stay out of the game because maintaining contact with just 12 other people is a lot easier than maintaining contact with 17.

The HoH Competition was the mini that apparently occurs every season. Entering this mini, I planned to throw it, of course. However I was genuinely surprised to see that I was not only nominated first but eliminated with every vote. This tells me that my social game is very clearly lacking and that I haven't had enough good conversations with anyone to feel safe. Who was I nominated against? My closest ally Michelle. Then my second closest ally, April, was eliminated next followed by my Michelle. Aisleyne, the whole time, was answering practically every question correctly, so it was no surprise when she won it all. I just had a really bad feeling after it was over that she'd end up nominating me along with one of my allies possibly. Being on the block, I thought I'd probably go home. I couldn't risk that.

I went to Aisleyne after HoH and told her exactly what Ragan had told me about how she and Aaron were apparently running an alliance against the veterans and that Ragan was the first target. She seemed surprised; perhaps no one else had sold this information to her, or maybe she was pretending to hear it from me for the first time. The question she asked was who told me this. I told her that I didn't know, but I prompted Ragan for it a few times and he didn't tell me. The whole time I was talking to Aisleyne, I was scared to death of making her think I was some crazy, annoying, paranoid player who would scramble every single round and float to the HoH. This wasn't my intention, and I stressed that while I was floating, I'd be up for a concrete alliance with her.

When nominations came, Lydia and I talked for the first time and she promised me everything if I gave her my vote to stay. She said that Ragan sold her out to Aisleyne and screwed her over. I acted completely ignorant and apologetic, but I knew that I was the person who had essentially screwed her over by telling Aisleyne what Ragan said. Perhaps other people did as well, and I wasn't the special, signficant person I thought I was. However, it basically confirms that Aisleyne had some kind of alliance with Aaron and trusted Lydia with this information, but then Lydia told Ragan which warned the veterans and ruined it. I'm thinking about mentioning this to Aisleyne to see what she says to me, but I'm waiting because I don't want her to think I'm some super-annoying strategist.

Lydia and Emma ended up being nominated with Dan and Jen returning to the game and being auto-nominated. I'd prefer 13 players, but 15 is still better than 18. Basically my hope for veto is that Aisleyne or April wins because I don't believe they will change nominations if they win. And it's vital that I stay off the block for now. At the moment, I'm slacking socially and setting myself up to be a pre-jury boot. But there is plenty of time for me to change this, and each round that I get closer to the end, I'll be able to position myself better.

I was happy when Aisleyne won the veto. I felt completely safe because it didn't make any sense for her to make a big move to save one of her nominations and backdoor me. I could see her potentially backdooring someone else like Sophie, but I figured it was too early for that.

So ultimately, Aisleyne announced that she wasn't using veto, and I was relieved. That means that I'm final thirteen. However, I think that there's a good chance that I'll be nominated by the next HoH. I have to either actually try in the HoH competition or step up my social game significantly to assure that I'm not one of the next boots.

I vote to evict Lydia. Justification: To be honest, I fear that I'm going to be a pre-jury boot with very little presence in the episodes. Therefore, since I feel like I had a large part in getting Aisleyne put Lydia onto the block, I think that Lydia's subsequent elimination would allow me to get more airtime.

I vote to evict Jen. Justification: The reason why I'm keeping Dan is that he made the effort to PM me twice. Granted, he's said like one to two words each message, but I'd at least appreciate SOMETHING from Jen. It's not like I haven't been on AIM lately. (Actually, I haven't, but let's look over that fact.)
